An annual herb of the mint family (Lamiaceae), grown for its aromatic leaves. Popularly known as ‘Mrihani’/ ‘Mrehani’ in Swahili.
- The most common use of basil is for cooking, such as in tomato sauce, pesto, or vinegar.
